The Gateway Upgrade Project forges ahead

Motorists now have an additional access to the Brisbane Airport off the Gateway Motorway. The new Airport Interchange connects the Gateway Motorway with Brisbane Airport Corporation's new airport access road, Moreton Drive.

CEO Phil Mumford said the new Airport Interchange provides motorists travelling on the new section of Gateway Motorway with a more direct route to Brisbane's International and Domestic airports.

"The new interchange is already alleviating traffic congestion on the Old Gateway Motorway and enhancing motorists' experience to and from the airport."

Three new permanent southbound lanes on the Gateway Motorway were also recently opened to traffic between Old Cleveland Road and Mt Gravatt-Capalaba Road.

Progressive road upgrade openings along the Gateway Motorway will continue until the project's completion, due in 2011 - delivering benefits to motorists sooner.
