As well as our dedicated staff in our Traffic Management Centre keeping an eye on the roads, we also have an incident response team.
Five Motorway Patrol Officers monitor the road network for debris and provide an instant response to incidents where they coordinate the response effort.
A heavy recovery vehicle is also permanently located at the Gateway Bridge to quickly remove heavy trucks that have either broken down or have been involved in an accident. This vehicle works alongside a tow truck and can tow up to 110 tonnes (equal to a fully loaded B-double truck.)
