Queensland Motorways lights up the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges maroon and yellow to support the Queensland Origin team

From tonight, Queensland Motorways will light up the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges (formerly Gateway Bridges) in maroon and yellow to support the Queensland State of Origin team as it fights for series glory over the Blues.

Queensland Motorways CEO Brendan Bourke said the iconic Queensland structures would remain lit up in origin colours for the entire month of June.

“Like the Queensland team the Bridges are iconic to Queensland, so lighting them up in origin colours is a great way to show our support and help get the boys across the victory line,” Mr Bourke said.

Queensland Motorways regularly changes the colour of the lights on the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges to support cultural and community events as well Queensland sporting teams.

More than 90,000 energy efficient LED lights are installed on the bridges providing a spectacular feature in the Brisbane skyline.
